General Description
Geranium is a perennial hairy shrub up to 1 meter high with pointed leaves, serrated at the edges and small pink flowers. The whole plant is aromatic.


Distribution
Geranium is native to South Africa, widely cultivated in Russia, Egypt, Congo, Japan, Central America and Europe (Spain, Italy and France).


Herbal & Folk tradition
Geranium is rose-scented, which is used in traditional Tunisian folk medicine for the treatment of hyperglycemia, is widely known as one of the medicinal herbs with the highest antioxidant activity. It has also been used to protect houses against evil spirits in the 1600´s Europe.


Characteristics
Geranium is a pale yellow-green liquid. Blends well with Bergamot and other citrus oils, Clary Sage, Clove, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Patchouli and Sandalwood.


Properties
Geranium - insect repellent, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, aphrodisiac, antiseptic, fungicidal, wounds, eczemas, irritated skin, head lice, acne among other properties.


Safety data
Geranium is non-toxic, non-irritant, skin sensitization (low risk) in hypersensitive individuals.
Maximum dermal use 17.5%.
